School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh is organizing the Fifth Annual Public Health Lecture on 27th July, 2018 (Friday) from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Lecture Theatre-1, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The lecture will be delivered by Padmashree Dr. H. Sudarshan, Secretary, Karuna Trust, Jayanagar, Bangalore on the topic “Reaching the Health Care to Unreached”.

Dr. H. Sudarshan is known for his work with Soligas, tribal community in Karnataka. His efforts have helped many tribal moorings retain their identity. Dr. Sudarshan founded the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra in 1981 which has blossomed into a sustainable tribal development program anywhere in the country. In 1986, he founded Karuna Trust for integrated rural development through health, education and livelihood security. The trust focuses on strengthening primary health care to provide comprehensive care to one million people, addressing gaps in these remote centers through innovations – telemedicine, health insurance and integration of mental health to name a few.  He has shared his wide experience by volunteering with the Government through his Chairmanship of the Karnataka Governments’ Task Force on Health & Family welfare as well as leading a ‘battle’ against the ‘epidemic of corruption’ as the Vigilance Director of the Karnataka Lokayukta (Ombudsman).
